Qualifications:
- Language: Proficiency in English is required
- Education: A Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience is necessary
- Experience: 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in financial and management analysis and reporting is required
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to lead and support staff in achieving identified outcomes
- Possess a professional accounting designation, such as CPA, with thorough knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles
- Have extensive knowledge of business process analysis, system design, and implementation
- Ability to prepare and present specialized accounting and financial reports
- Strong leadership skills to empower and achieve results through others
- Capable of developing and maintaining effective working relationships
- Skilled in negotiating agreements through problem-solving, stakeholder involvement, and communication
- Proficient in using Windows word-processing and spreadsheet software
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations and staff in the revenue and accounting clerical sections
- Ensure the integrity of management and operating reports generated by department systems
- Participate in the development of financial business systems with adequate internal controls, providing daily support to other staff
- Collect, compile, analyze, and report financial and operational data for senior management
- Assist with budget preparation, expenditure analysis, and financial planning; contribute to developing and justifying rates, and prepare reports for Council
- Monitor and report on the financial status of capital projects
- Participate in staff training for financial management systems implementation
- Regularly report on performance, analyzing variances between actual achievements and desired outcomes
- Organize and manage Transit year-end processes and reporting, and assist with claims that are cost-shared with government agencies
